Event Description

Ondru presents One Woman, All Women, a storytelling art project that raises awareness and builds advocacy to increase breast cancer screening among migrant, refugee, and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) women in metropolitan Melbourne and across Victoria.

Moon (Munever “Moon” Lewis) - a woman of Turkish descent - is a breast cancer survivor and her powerful personal, raw and intimate story serves as a glimmer of hope and courage. The moving portraits provide meaningful and rich dialogue where lived experience, healthcare, education and art intersect. By profiling Moon’s story, Ondru seeks to inspire confidence among the CALD women to prioritise their health and break down cultural barriers surrounding health.

This unique initiative is an effective way to position art as an educational tool and driver for transformation. The One Woman, All Women project is a transformative body of work framed through a powerful message of embracing empowerment. Grounded in cultural understanding and sensitivity, One Woman, All Women honours and reflects the diversity of beliefs and values of CALD communities, and therefore, bridges the gap between awareness and action to inspire women to take charge of their health and wellbeing.
